Where is horizontal falls located?
Horizontal falls is located in Talbot bay Western Australia. This magnificent water fall is located in between Broome and Montgomery reef. both the natural features are in the same general area as well as the hunter river, prince Regent River, Mitchell River, king George falls and Wyndham. they are all located in a pocket of land in the top left hand corner of Australia near the king sound. The exact coordinates of Talbot bay are 16.3800° S, 123.9592° E.
Whats the weather/climate like and whens the best time to go?
Derby is located near horizontal falls, it is where most people stay when they visit it. In the summer it is hot and humid. In the winter it is warm dry weather. It is never cold in Derby, but in winter it is cool in the night and in the mountains it is cold. In the summer the average minimum temperature is 25 degrees and the maximum is 36 degrees. In winter the average high is 32 and the average low is 18. in Derby their dry season is from May to October and the rest of the year it is tropical season. In the tropical season (from January- April) it is prone to floods and cyclones. When it rains it is very heavy and lots of the roads are closed due to rivers and streams over flowing. In October to December it is very hot and dry. it is usually the time where the water holds back until it is released in massive opening periods.
What are the flora and fauna like?
Talbot bay, in witch horizontal falls is located has a wide variety of fauna. A significant part of the fauna would be marine life and they have lots of different species of whale. The killer whale and the humpback both rest, birth and bread on their log journey to Antarctica. At Talbot bay there have been a number of sightings of different whales inside and out of the bay such as blue whale, Pygmy blue whale, sperm whale, pygmy killer whale, Short-finned pilot whale and Bryde’s whale. That is not it! There have been a number of dolphins sighted as well. Surprisingly Talbot bay also has Dugongs living within. Talbot bay amazingly has 52 species of fresh water fish and 16 are only found in the Kimberly. one species of flora that I think are spectacular are the Boabs, they love salt and coastal areas. Pandanus grew fruit that look like red pineapple and were eaten by aboriginals.

horizontal falls is like no water fall on earth. Here the water 'falls' horizontally rather than vertically. The water falls the normal way but when the tide changes it 'falls' backwards.
