Down in the lower regions of the blue mountains the average temperature in winter is 16 degrees and in summer it's 29 degrees. In winter most people would think that snow would be a regular sight in the ranges but the average snow season lasts 5 days. Though snow is uncommon, frost on the ground in winter is not.
What are the flora and fauna like?
Little is known about the insects and invertebrates that live in the Blue Mt.s but t is highly likely because of the plant diversity research has suggested that there is a lot of species. The Blue Mt.s are home to the famous and iconic Rainbow Lorikeet. There are lots of tall trees like eucalyptus in the forests and down on the forest floors are ferns, black boys (type of plant) and other shade tolerant plants. There are other trees like coachwoods, sassafras, lilly pilly, possumwood, pepper brush and grey myrtle.
